Premiering: August 9, 2019
Just back from their successful first tour of Europe (including a sold-out show at The Lexington in London and an appearance at North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam), on August 9th, 2019, Chicago blue-eyed soul group Fat Night are set to release their latest single, the space disco track "Sweet Nothings," accompanied by a soft and dreamy music video directed by John TerEick.
For fans of Jamiroquai, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and The Internet, "Sweet Nothings" is the perfect mid-tempo heater for the moment your crush appears on the dance floor and it's time to show off those moves you've been practicing in the mirror all summer.
The track features guest percussionist Ian McLeod on congas and a future-soul mix by Nick Herrera (known for his work with Hiatus Kaiyote). The video showcases dancers Katherine Stewart & Christina Reis.
"Sweet Nothings" will be available on common streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube. Catch Fat Night live in select cities across California August 12th-17th.
About Fat Night...
Fat Night (Gabriel Gundacker, Daniel Hanson, Theodore Issen, & Nik Ritchie) have been friends since their middle and high school days in Orlando, Florida. After years of playing with each other in various rock bands, their shared love of R&B and soul music led the four to start jamming together in Nik’s woodsy backyard shed.
In 2013, Ohio-based soul label Colemine Records released "Things You Do," Fat Night's first reverb-soaked 7" single that quickly sold out on its first pressing. In 2013, the group released their first full-length, Fat Night, followed by a six-song EP, Lazy Days, in 2015. “Sun Go Down," the surprise hit off that EP, has since garnered over 4.5 million streams on Spotify.
Fat Night relocated to Chicago in late 2016 before releasing the single and accompanying music video for “Honest Man," followed by an animated lyric video for their single "Question" in late 2018.
In July 2019, Fat Night was invited to perform at North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Around this high-profile gig they booked their first European tour which included an appearance at Festival Relache in Bordeaux, France, two sets at Duc des Lombards in Paris, and a sold-out show at The Lexington in London. They will be embarking on their first tour of California in August of 2019.
